Symposia in Asia
Our Asian Alum Symposia, organised by our local communities in Hong Kong, Singapore and India, brought together alums and guests from all over the world, offering participants the opportunity to learn, share and have fun in very special settings.
We look forward to organizing another Asian Symposium soon. Do contact us at MHGlobalAA@gmail.com if you are interested in hosting a Symposium in your area!

Our first three Asian events....
Hong Kong - November 2014
“Women and Entrepreneurship: Staying Relevant in a Changing World”

The first Asian Alumnae Symposium brought together guests from Asia and the rest of the world. The program included panel discussions, networking, and alum-led tours of the city, in a fast-changing world and an increasingly global economy. Among the accomplished speakers were Mount Holyoke alums who have founded their own companies as well as CEOs, professors and academic administrators, and community activists. Hong Kong was a fitting location for the weekend’s theme, which aimed to explore how women, education, social consciousness, and the entrepreneurial spirit are reshaping Asia and empowering women to become successful entrepreneurs.

Singapore - November 2016
“Innovation in Asia”
The second Asian Alumnae Symposium gathered participants from all over the world to the island city-state of Singapore, a multicultural hub of global commerce, finance, and transport. The event was held at Bloomberg headquarters in the heart of the city and it explored how innovation has evolved in Asia, discussing company-specific strategies and government policies that have been instrumental in this process. The weekend’s speakers included global thought leaders, accomplished entrepreneurs, and high-level executives from across Asia and the United States. In addition, attendees were able to more casually engage with each other and explore the city through activities such as tours guided by local alums and other social activities.

Jaipur (India) – January 2019
"India at Crossroads: Past, Present and Future"
The third Mount Holyoke Alumnae Symposium in Asia drew attendees from all over the world to the Taj Jai Mahal Palace Hotel in Jaipur. Alums were joined by students, invited guests and College leaders for a weekend of panels and discussions, yoga, shared meals, and networking. The event not only brought the Mount Holyoke community together, but it showcased India’s evolution into the world’s largest democracy and one of the fastest growing economies. The symposium offered insights into the Indian subcontinent’s arts, culture and people, and the organizing committee provided fresh perspectives that left all attendees excited for more opportunities to work together with fellow alum colleagues in India, Asia and all around the world.
